Boss Lady
Tell us more about yourself?
I'm Jocelyn, and the daughter of a Dominican dad, and Puerto Rican mom. Growing up was pretty interesting,  but I wouldn't change a thing because it's made me who I am today. I love my family, friends and community very much and try to contribute in any way that I can. When I'm not working teaching or selling homes you can find me exploring new hobbies like home improvement DIY's and learning to shoot, or enjoying long standing hobbies like dancing with my ladies dance troupe, reading on various topics and listening to podcasts.
In your journey is there one story that you will like to share with others women that will inspire, empower and help them find their inner voice.
In a lot of ways I was an early bloomer and pretty mature for my age. I both became a mom and living on my own at the age of 17. However, in finding work that I loved and felt passionate about took me much, much longer. I was often told to be happy to have work, or just stay where I was, and try to climb the latter which I did at times. But that just wasn't me and I knew that I wanted more for myself and after a few months would feel incredibly bored in most jobs that I did. It wasn't until my late 30s that I found work that I love, felt passionate about and was dynamic enough in nature to keep me on my toes. That work is in Education and Real Estate. So, I would say, nobody knows what you want and what you need for your life better than you. And if you are not at peace with any area in your life, keep moving until you do!

What is your job/ career / #momlife
I am a teacher, a realtor and have 2 sons still home. They are teens can be so fun!
How do you balance work and life?
My family and my self car is my #1 priority, that is a non-negotiable in my eyes.  Although I have been a single mom for many years, I am blessed with an amazing supportive network of family, friends and colleagues. I am so incredibly grateful for them. When I make my family and self care a priority, it allows me to better serve my clients and community.
What are 3 things you think we should do to support each other?
I think we should be present for one another. I mean like really authentically present. Many times we ask how others are doing, but are we ready to hear the response, " I'm not fine" and can we really be ready for that response and either make a decision to be a listening ear or make some time to be that.
Another thing we can do is support each other's businesses. I love seeing other women start their own business and I try to support them whenever I can. Finally, I think that we can support each other by recognizing that we are not each other's competition.  As women, there are already many challenges that we encounter both at home and in the workforce. I think it's important to remember that we have more similar life experiences than we think and that we are better together by encouraging and uplifting one another then divided.
What brings you joy?
A lot of things bring my joy! So it's hard to narrow this down. Spending time with the people I love doing pretty much anything, dancing, and listening to music.
Tell me what are those key items that you must have when you are in your happy place?
I must have a clean and organized space, a notepad and pen to write down my thoughts or things I need to remember to do.  A book, and/or interesting podcast to listen to.
